Madhya Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a pivotal center for renewable energy in India, propelled by ambitious policies, substantial investments, and a diverse energy portfolio.
The state’s Renewable Energy Policy 2025 sets a clear trajectory: achieving 50% of its power consumption from renewable sources by 2030. Interim targets include 20% by 2024 and 30% by 2027. To support this, Madhya Pradesh aims to attract ₹50,000 crore in investments by 2027, with ₹15,000 crore targeted by 2024. The policy offers incentives such as 100% electricity duty exemption for ten years and land acquisition rebates to encourage private participation
The state boasts significant renewable energy potential: approximately 61 GW from solar, 11 GW from wind, and 820 MW from small hydro . Major projects include:
Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Park: A 750 MW facility, one of the largest in India, supplying power to the Delhi Metro .
Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park: A 600 MW project on the Narmada River, aiming to be the world's largest floating solar installation .
