In response to the severe drought conditions impacting farmers in Madhya Pradesh, the state government has announced a comprehensive financial aid package to alleviate the hardships faced by the agricultural community.
The 2025-26 state budget allocates ₹850 crore to the "Mukhya Mantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana," a scheme designed to provide direct financial support to drought-affected farmers. This initiative aims to offer immediate relief and assist in the recovery of agricultural activities
Additionally, the state has increased its focus on irrigation infrastructure, with a proposed ₹17,863 crore investment in the construction and maintenance of irrigation projects. This expansion is expected to enhance water availability across approximately 7.2 lakh hectares, thereby reducing the vulnerability of crops to future droughts .
